Supplier Manager

What you will be doing

You will be responsible for establishing strong partnerships with internal and external vendors to set clear expectations. This includes establishing service level agreements, and ensuring contracts are in place to support the services provided by the infrastructure team. You will be responsible to ensure that all supporting services that enable the delivery of customer-facing IT services are well documented.

You will ensure that standards and procedures are in place for services we purchase from our partners and vendors according to their roadmap of services. Technology infrastructure is inherently complex. This complexity is best mitigated by establishing standard ways of work that ensures the technical teams work together in a consistent manner. Follow up that these standards improve; the quality of service, the speed to market and results in productivity gains on the services we purchase.

You must be more than just an expert at managing technology. As Supplier Manager you must be aware of the strategic direction of the organization as well as new technologies on the horizon. You must be able to use this knowledge to challenge our partners and vendors on technology changes that enables the organization to move forward. Furthermore, you must be able to lay out a strategy that the CIO and other executives understand and support.

Establish proper metrics and monitoring, that can quickly be visualized to senior leadership. As Supplier Manager you need to have a strong monitoring system in place and be able to produce standard reports on the status of our purchased services. Service providers should be hold responsible to budget, time, scope, etc. Furthermore, you must regularly communicate to bring visibility into work that happens ‘behind the scenes’ that affects our services and end users as decided by steering committees for projects and deliveries. Vendors performance management - how the vendors execute our standard processes and cost improvements that will impact and contribute to our goals for stability, security and cost-efficiency.


Your skills

  • You have several years of experience with either project management, or project portfolio management and are comfortable in a structured environment with agile approach.
  • Maybe you possess a PRINCE2 or other certification or similar qualifications.
  • You have a solid business and technical understanding and the ability to gain new skills.
  • You work well with limited instructions and enjoy interacting with colleagues and partners.
  • Stay curious with an open and constructive mindset.
  • Have previous experience working with outsourcing and managed service providers.
  • Self-driven and able to drive change.
  • Skilled in presenting to different audiences - connect to the audience and tell the good story.
  • Skilled in documentation with a good sense of structure and processes.
  • Comprehensive English skills; both written and spoken.
  • Familiarity with ITIL and an acknowledgement of the benefits from working with a best practice framework.
